Lee looked up from her desk as a strong gust of wind rushed into her bedroom. Lee closed her eyes and breathed the air in through her nose. She felt the wind tingle her skin...
Rhiannon!
Rhiannon stepped into Lee's bedroom. Her eyes were filled with tears that had not yet spilled from her eyes
Lee...I tried to leave...
Zip it, Rhiannon! Surely that changeling taught you a lesson... Please, just leave us alone! Lee stood from her chair and fiddled with some reagents in her bag, counting... Did she have any mandrake? She couldn't remember...an odd feeling for the elf. Her memory is usually impeccable.
Lee... A tear finally spilled onto her cheek and was followed by a few more trailing down her face. You have always been so good to me... Her voice was quivering. I have been so... She closed her eyes causing more tears to fall. She searched for the right words. She stuttered. I have been a monster! Nothing less. She sniffled as she brought her hands to her face, covering her cheeks and eyes. She began to sob.
Lee hesitantly pulled her hand from her bag. She arched an eyebrow and sat down in her chair. She leaned forward slightly, placing her elbows on her knees. What is this, she thought to herself. She sensed sincerity, but then again -Rhiannon was a master at deception.
Rhiannon fell to her knees as she sobbed uncontrollably. Please, forgive me! Please! You have to! I’ll just die if you don't. You’re the only family I have. You took me in…I’ve changed! I swear I’ve changed!
Tears began to swell in Lee’s eyes…
That afternoon, Lee and Rhiannon sat on Lee’s roof watching the fish splash around in Lee’s miniature, roof top pond. Lee spoke, I suppose we should venture into town. I should introduce you to my friends. They are sure to recognize you and you will be arrested unless I clarify things with them.
But I have already been out… Oh my! I am glad I didn’t bump into any of those that chased me that day…
You mean you didn't just arrive? But, I only felt your presence just before you came into my house…
Rhiannon tilted her head. You mean you did not sense my presence yesterday?
What is happening? Lee thought worrisome. My memory isn’t sharp and I didn’t sense Rhiannon… What is happening…
Nevermind, Rhiannon. Tell me, what did you get into?
Rhiannon giggled. You assume I got into things. She giggled again. Well, I did meet some handsome gentlemen. One by the name of Roger. We met at this quaint little tavern. What was the name…Hanses Hostel. Yes. Handsome gentleman. He said he knew you.
Lee nodded. And what did you tell him?
Oh, just that you are my sister, and I am staying with you.
You’re not my sister Rhiannon. Please do not tell lies…
Well, I see you as my sister. Anyway, then I met this really handsome, intriguing gentleman…I did not catch his name…He said he was once mayor of Moonglow. He had red hair, red beard…
That would be Fong. Lee nodded firmly.
Rhiannon fanned herself. He is so…so…mmm. Rhiannon giggled.
Lee looked to Rhiannon. Rhiannon was fidgeting in her chair. Lee grinned widely. If I didn’t know you better, I’d say Sir Fong has tickled your fancy...That’s interesting Rhiannon. You are left speechless by a man! Ha! Lee laughed loudly.
Don’t poke fun, Lee! He was just… so… mmmm.
Lee watched Rhiannon blush scarlet as she fumbled for her words. Lee was taken aback. Rhiannon – her demeanor shook by a man? Strange indeed.
