After the battle......
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The zookeeper sat on the stairs of the zoo trying to make some sense of the days events. He stretched his neck trying to relieve some of the soreness that had grown there. His head throbbed and his back ached from the the events of this ominous day.
That morning, as usual, Daz had gone to the zoo for the morning feeding. The animals seemed overly anxious for some reason. They would not eat of their food. They would not drink of their water. They only paced around and could not find comfort with their surroundings. They called out with loud voices with their displeasure. Something was certainly irritating them, but what it was, the zookeeper did not know.
Throughout the day, reports of events around Moonglow seemed to warn of impending disaster.
The forests that where normally full of life seemed dead and vacant. The wolves and bears and many of the normally harmless creatures of Moonglow were seen running the streets terrified for their lives. Terrified of what? The zookeeper did not know.
Orange and black pumpkins of all shapes and sizes burst forth from the fields in a bizarre attempt to remove themselves from the ground.
The house just to the south of Moonglow's cotton field seemed to come to life. Screams of the dead walked within as blood oozed from its walls, covering the doorway and much of the floor.
The cemetery gates stood little chance of holding back the undead horde that now exploded into the forest. What was calling these restless souls to come hence forth? The zookeeper did not know.
The townsfolk even seemed much more irritated and uncomfortable. Lies were being spoken all over Moonglow, the City of Honesty. There had been reports of fighting in the streets of this normally happy and friendly society.
Throughout the day the air around Moonglow seemed to grow more and more ominous.
The Moonglow Town Council was called together to address the town's security. It was then that the news concerning the hand of evil's intention and the situation concerning the Lyceum was made known. There was no time to loose. MTC sprang into action.
We hastily went over the news and made preparations as best we could.
Upon our arrival at the Lyceum, we did not hesitate. The orders were given and the battle was joined.
The skies opened and released a rain of blood upon the land. Moonglow was victorious in battle. But had we acted fast enough to avert further evil? One could only hope.
